Viren,

[Usually Myr sounds like he's smiling over the watches, but he doesn't today. Perhaps because of the entire previous month, ... or perhaps because he's Concerned, knowing Viren's Witch vanished.]

What are you planning for the full moons? [i.e. you're not Bonded again this quickly, are you?]
faithlikeaseed: (blind - neutral)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-24 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Right. [About as he'd feared.]

I've a proposal for you, if you're amenable.
faithlikeaseed: (blind - chatter)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

What would you say to a temporary Bond?
faithlikeaseed: (blind - :|)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-25 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. And, [...breath out,] he's still not up to casting as much as he's used to.

[Owing to the missing fingers and mutilated tongue, though the less Myr has to say about that, the better.]

So--we've magic to spare, as it were.

I've time now. [The where requires a moment of consideration.] And I'm near enough to DiplomaTea we might as well make it there.

[Which might serve as a check on any Faunish instincts, this close to the full moons. ...Maybe.]

[And Myr is along quite soon indeed--if he'd been any earlier, Viren might not've had time to set the tea out.

The usual click of hooves and staff on the wooden floor heralds his arrival as he stops carefully shy of the table (and sadly just out of reach of the empty chair).

There might be the littlest bit of nervousness in his manner as he wraps both hands around his staff and clears his throat.
]

Good afternoon. [A beat.] The tea smells lovely.

[Hearing the scrape of the chair, Myr moves toward it with a murmur of thanks, finds the back, and pulls it out to seat himself. His ears lift at the mention of cream and honey (ever and always a Faun who listens to stomach as well as heart)--and his smile widens into a real grin at Viren's comment.]

If I'd like, [he echoes.] Of course I'd like, else I'd not have proposed a Bond all without preamble like that. [Yes, these are linked in his pretty little antlered head; bear with him.]

But it can certainly wait until after, [and with that he holds out his hand for the potion; no cramming required!! until after]

[He rolls the bottle between his fingers to feel the patterning, curious as ever. It...says something, doesn't it, about Viren--the kind of choices the man makes even in purchasing items as ubiquitous to the Mirrorbound experience as Bonding potions.

It's certainly a something Myr likes. He pops the cork on his own potion.
]

Affection? Friendship? [...oh no, oh wait, this is a horrible idea but it's one of those he can't keep from sharing because it's funny,] The blind Faun and his Witch finally pledging troth and Bond at last?
faithlikeaseed: (blind - sad smile round two)

[personal profile] faithlikeaseed 2020-06-26 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Not a laugh, and Myr's ears do drop a little that the joke fell flat... But it also wasn't a total repudiation and with Viren, that's something. The Faun takes a breath--fur fluffing a little at the scent of smoke!--and rallies after a moment.]

Too far, huh? [It's said teasingly, though, as much a jape at himself as his companion.] Cheers, Viren.

[If the expected bottle-clink is off-angle and nearly missed, well, he still manages it and that's what counts. He knocks his potion back hard after, setting the bottle down on the table once he's done with due gentleness for its decorative delicacy.

And says, as the Bond begins to take hold,
] You might have to start calling me Myr, now.

[It's a happiness echoed and reinforced by relief and undeniable affection. As if Myr had been shy at all about caring for Viren--though perhaps by the Faun's own standards, he has, in not wanting to impose.

His ears lift once more, his smile brighter to hear his nickname echoed back to him.
]

You're more than welcome, [he replies, reaching carefully to find his teacup with outstretched fingers. Ah, there it is.] I do worry for you, and, [here his smile widens,] I realize I'd meant what I'd said about offering you a Bond, back in Guardian. [Wait, that's not the month's name here.] --Feoveuer.

[Huff.] How are you doing?

[It is a testament of Myr's enduring--some might say blind--affection for those he thinks of as his own, that what he'd witnessed in others' memories had not turned him aside from them.

Given him pause, maybe; given him reason to reflect on how he related to the friends he's made here in Geardagas, and the Maker's (presumed) reasons for letting him be pulled through a mirror.

But it had not driven him away to have a real, visceral example of where Viren's pragmatism could--had--led him. Nor to know how his friend craved understanding for what those acts, if not respect and approval. The former's at least something Myr's used to extending--so used, in fact, that he can't at first place why his statement should provoke puzzlement through their fledgling Bond.

His eyebrows knit together with the force of displaced emotion; he takes a sip of his tea to buy space to sort it out as Viren answers his question.
]

Mmm. [He sets his cup down once more, ears flicking. Without something to hold on to, he seems briefly at a loss of what to do with his own hands before settling on folding them before him. hold your bonded's hand shivana you coward] That's so; but death's likewise inevitable and we don't expect folk not to grieve even a little bit.

[Though there were always reasons to keep stoic about a loss, even so--] But I am glad to hear you well.

What's got you so puzzled, though? [Forgive him, Viren; his other Bonds have trained him to be Like This.]

[The mention of that memory sends a shiver down Myr's spine and a ripple of anxious fear through the Bond--not for what had been revealed in Viren's memory, but for the awful way the night had ended. Two months hasn't been nearly enough time to forget it.

But what he cannot forget, he can ignore with a lifetime's habit of repression; he takes a steadying breath and tucks the fear safely away. There's something far more worthy--and interesting--to focus on at-hand than his own shortcomings.

Though finding words to explain himself--explain how his distress at learning more of Viren's past had, strangely, been swallowed up by worse horrors and diminished thereby... --No. No, he can't go into that, nor is it even the most important of reasons he'd stuck by the Dragon, even though it's all wound around the things that eat at him the most. Another breath, and he unclasps his hands, thinking to reach for his tea before following some impulse to offer an upturned palm to Viren instead.

Courage, Shivana. Stop fidgeting and say it.
]

And I'll not lie and say I wasn't worried that I'd lost you, or-- [A moment's hesitation in the Bond, a hedging, as Myr steels himself.] The vision of you I'd had in mind. It did hurt, to see that--to understand what you'd taken upon yourself.

[Breath.] What you'd do, for king and people.

[That loyalty is something the Faun admires and respects; so much would be obvious from the look on his face, let alone the Bond.] But I--you--

[Hff.] --We don't agree on everything. Maybe not many things, some of them very important. But I care for you no less, for all that. I want the best for you.

[Even if, Myr suspects, that means dragging Viren out of some strongly held positions.

...but he's not going to ruin an awkwardly touching moment by saying that.
